The Local Housing Assistance Plan outlines how Sarasota County will use State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP) funds for affordable housing initiatives. SHIP funds are used to address local housing needs for very low-, low- and moderate-income families.
​The final LHAP was approved by the Sarasota County Commission on Nov. 18, 2025. Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) approved the LHAP on July 9, 2026.
Effective July 1, 2026, the Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) for the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program has been updated to reflect the requirements of SB 594. The version currently posted on our website is a draft and is subject to approval by the Board of County Commissioners in Aug. 2026.
